12 Days from Marrakech to Fes via Merzouga

Day 1 : Marrakech – Telouet – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate

Departure in the morning towards the High Atlas, Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260m altitude) and the Kasbah of Télouet (visit the Kasbah of Pacha Glaoui) with lunch at Tasga.

Then, following the ancient caravan route, find the Ksar of Ait Benhaddou
in the Ounila Valley, dotted with small Berber villages.

Day 2 : Ouarzazate – Skoura (Route of the 1000 Kasbahs) – Gorges of Todra – Ouarzazate

Explore the region of Ouarzazate with all its charms.

Discover the area of the Route of 1000 Kasbahs with a fantastic architecture and breathtaking scenery.

Travel to the Todra Gorge passing through the Tinguir Valley.

The Oasis of Skoura is known for its palm grove and several kasbahs.

On the way to the Todra Gorges enjoy Rose Valley with Kellat M’Gouna and Boumalme Dades.

Day 3 : Ouarzazate – Agdz – Draa Valley – Nkob – Alnif – Rissani – Merzouga

Follow unknown South Route from Ouarzazate to Merzouga crossing the Saghro Mountains.

Berber villages, magnificent mountains and oasis make this day an unforgettable experience.

Continue to Sahara Desert, passing Berber villages Nkob and Alnif.

Day 4 : Erfoud, Merzouga, Dunes Tour

This is the day of discovering Sahara Desert, its landscapes and best destinations.

Incredible tour around Erg Chebbi dunes, see nomadic people and beautiful landscapes.

Merzouga is the largest of all the villages that surround Dunes. It is only few kilometers from the border with Algeria. Erg Chebbi Dunes are amazing place.

Day 5 : Merzouga – Erfoud – Ziz Valley – Rich – Midelt

We leave desert and climbed North, crossing gorges of Ziz Valley and then get to the beginning of the Middle Atlas Mountains to Midelt.

This day you will see transitional landscapes from desert sand, to the mountains crossing the Ziz Valley which is made of earth-colored rocky gorges.

Very beautiful.

Day 6 : Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fez

On this day you will go across the Middle Atlas to the Imperial city of Fez.

Ifrane and Azrou are called Moroccan ski resorts.

In Ifrane feels like being somewhere in Switzerland. In Azrou meet monkeys that live on the loose in the forest of cedars.

Day 7 : Fez

Fez is second largest city, and one of the four imperial cities in Morocco.

Fes el Bali or Fez Medina belongs to Unesco and was originally founded as the capital of Idrissida Dynasty between 789 and 808 AD.

Day 8 : Fez – Ouazzane – Chefchaouen

Travel further north from Fez to the town of Chefchaouen.

The color of the Chefchaouen city is turquoise blue. All houses in its old medina are painted in very fresh and beautiful color.

In Chefchaouen you can visit the castle in the central square and see mosque with octagonal minaret (the only one in the whole Muslim world).

Day 9 : Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Rabat

Today you now follow along the Atlantic Coast, through the interesting and ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, to the capital of the Kingdom of Morocco, UNESCO city of Rabat.

The Roman ruins of Volubilis are the best preserved Roman ruins in this part of North Africa and are enlisted as UNESCO heritage.

Day 10 : Rabat – Casablanca – El Jadida – Essaouira

This is very busy day with lot of kms.

After a brief visit to the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca we continue towards Essaouira.

On the way we stopped at El Jadida to visit, belonging to the UNESCO list of World Heritage, the Portuguese cistern inside the old city.

Day 11 : Essaouira

Essaouira is a UNESCO city on the Atlantic coast of Morocco.

Since the XVI century city is also known by its Portuguese name ‘Mogador’.

You will have a full day to discover the city walls, harbor and the fishing market, the best sea food restaurants in Morocco, old medina and many shops across the city.

Day 12 : Essaouira – Marrakech

This is the last day of your tour in Morocco.

It is a day of introspection, contemplate about what have you seen during the trip.

In Marrakech you will be taken to your hotel, if you spend the night, or will be taken to the airport for the flight home
